GRIPSHOLM Castle made a winning start to her career when taking the 1m2f maiden at Newmarket this evening
Go BackThe 20/1 shot was held up towards the rear by Ian Mongan and was being ridden along over 3f out.
But once she hit the rising ground she quickened up well and stayed on impressively to win by four and a half lengths from stable companion Flame of Gibraltar.
Trainer Henry Cecil said: "They went quite fast and she stayed on to win well.
"The second is a nice horse too but she probably felt the ground."
From a top US dirt family this daughter of Dyanformer relished the fast conditions tonight and looks an exciting prospect for her connections.
