Flame of Gibraltar off the mark
FLAME OF GIBRALTAR got off the mark in impression fashion when winning a 1m2f maiden at Lingfield this afternoon. Go Back

She gave Henry Cecil's yard a nice confidence-booster on the eve of the Oaks when Midday will target her trainer's ninth victory in the Epsom Classic.

The daughter of Rock of Gibraltar, a well-backed 2-5 favourite, was given a good ride by jockey Tom Queally who settled his mount just off the leaders in the early stages of the race.

She travelled nicely down the hill to take up the running over 2f out. Flame Of Gibraltar then galloped away smoothly to score by three lengths.

It was a very professional display and showed that she had moved forward a lot from her debut second at Newmarket last month.
