The chestnut colt showed plenty of promise when second on his debut at Yarmouth before finding the pace too hot in a sales race at York last month.
But the son of Needwood Blade yesterday appreciated a slight step up in trip and did the job well - despite getting a little excited in the preliminaries.
Handed a good draw in stall one, Kings Bayonet - ridden by Tom Queally - was able to get a nice lead into the business end of the race by Al Naouwee.
As they strraightened for home on the top bend, Queally asked for an effort from the 9/4 favourite who surged up to take control approaching the final furlong.
There was a still a bit to do as Robust Wush threw down a late challenge.
But Kings Bayonet had the move covered and came home with a length to spare.
