Applause off the mark
Go Back
APPLAUSE got off the mark in good style this evening when landing a mile maiden at Windsor.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer was sent off the well-backed 5-4 favourite having finished third and second on the all-weather as a juvenile last season.

She was making her seasonal reappearance today and despite racing keenly in what was a slowly run race she did the job well.

Jockey Shane Kelly settled her just off the leaders and was always ready to strike. The rain had come and as so often happens at Windsor they headed to the far rail.

Kelly had the speed to grab the rail and his mount responded well to pressure, galloping strongly to the line to win by three and a quarter lengths.

The form of what she beat tonight is certainly questionable but she looks another nice colt for her connections to enjoy this summer.
