FLEETING SPIRIT heads trainer Jeremy Noseda’s three-pronged tilt at 2009 Breeders’ Cup glory when she contests the Sprint on Saturday night.

This will be the second time she has tackled a Breeders’ Cup race, having finished just outside the frame in the Sprint Turf 12 months ago.
Saturday will see her switch surface to the Pro-Ride and jockey Frankie Dettori will be aboard. She has been drawn out wide, nine of nine for the extended 6f race at Santa Anita.
Noseda said: “Fleeting Spirit took a little bit of time to settle in when she arrived over here. But she has improved day by day and I think we are hopefully approaching the race in good shape.
“With the draw, I wanted to be in the middle - the only place I didn’t want to be was the inside.
“I don’t think the surface will be an issue. She has trained on it and I don’t believe it will compromise her in any way.”
Noseda is set to be represented by Strike The Deal in the BC Sprint (Turf). He arrived in America off the back of a Group 3 win at Newbury but met with a slight setback earlier this week.
His trainer said: “Unfortunately, we had a little problem with bruising to his near fore foot. He had to miss training on Wednesday but he was back out on Thursday morning.
“Touch wood, we are back on track and hopefully everything will go right between now and Saturday.”
Awesome Act has something to find on form but connections are rolling the dice in the BC Juvenile Turf. The form of his maiden victory has worked out well with the runner-up winning a Group 3 and finishing fifth in a Group 1, but Awesome Act needs to improve to be there or thereabouts at the business end.
Noseda said: “Awesome Act has travelled well and is in good order. He does need to step up on his form, but I believe he is better than his performances have shown so far.”
