Palacefield takes Chepstow maiden

PALACEFIELD got off the mark at the fourth time of asking in a mile maiden at Chepstow this afternoon.

The son of Green Desert was sent off the 10/11 favourite following three previous placed efforts, the latter of which saw him just touched off in a maiden at Thirsk.

Jockey Alan Munro settled his mount on the heels of the leaders but was soon ridden as the pace upfront quickened.

Munro managed to get a gutsy late surge out the colt to collar Luc Jordan in the shadow of the post, scoring by a short head.

Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam is now six winners from 15 runners in the last two weeks - evidence, if any were required, that he has his string in great nick.
